Chỉ hoàn cảnh sống hoặc làm ăn không thuận, éo le, khiến người ta gặp nhiều khó khăn, khổ sở. Cũng dùng để nói tình trạng người cùng phe, cùng loại hoặc gần gũi với nhau lại chèn ép, làm khó lẫn nhau.
